POST MENOPAUSAL CARE
Post-menopausal care is healthcare for women who have experienced menopause, a period of at least 12 months of menstruation due to hormonal changes. It aims to address physical, emotional, and hormonal changes, optimize health, and address unique health challenges. Women should collaborate with healthcare providers for personalized care plans.
Post-menopausal care involves assessing hormone levels to identify imbalances and manage symptoms. It includes addressing symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. It also promotes bone health by promoting calcium and vitamin D supplementation, weight-bearing exercises, and bone density screenings. It also includes lifestyle modifications, blood pressure and cholesterol management, and cardiovascular screenings. Regular gynaecological examinations, screenings for cervical and breast cancer, and vaccinations against HPV are also recommended. Sexual dysfunction can be addressed through counseling, vaginal moisturizers, hormone therapy, and treatments. Emotional support is also provided to help women cope with the physical and emotional changes.
